Have you ever numbed yourself to avoid pain, stayed silent when your soul begged you to speak or clung to comfort at the cost of Justice?
They called me la Malcriada because I refused to stay quiet in the face of injustice. I spoke up when others turned away. It wasn't easy then, and it isn't easy now. Healing, speaking up, and standing for Justice require courage—and not everyone is willing to walk that path.
Why? Because it's uncomfortable, sometimes lonely, and often desagradecido. It asks us to disrupt systems, challenge beliefs, and even shift family dynamics. The truth is that confronting uncomfortable realities can change everything—including relationships.
✨ Healing asks us to feel and face what we've buried.
✨ Speaking up breaks the silence that maintains oppression.
✨ Justice challenges us to trade privilege comfort for equity.
Choosing Healing Over Numbness
Numbness might feel like a shield, but it's a thief that robs us of connection, joy, authenticity, and peace. We've all been there at some point in our lives, whether it's zoning out on social media, binge-watching another series, or pretending everything's fine when it's not.
But healing requires bravery. It means facing the pain we've buried, peeling back the layers of our past, and stepping into the messy, beautiful work of becoming whole.
Healing whispers to us: Feel this. Face this. Heal this.
It's in the moments when we finally allow ourselves to let go of the tension, the tears to fall, ask for help, or finally consciously let go of that ancestral pattern that's been weighing us down. No one says it is easy, but sure, it's worth it. Because on the other side of numbness lies liberation and a deeper connection to your essence.
Choosing Outspokenness Over Silence
We've all felt the weight of a moment when we could have spoken up but didn't. Maybe it was out of fear, not wanting to offend, or simply not knowing what to say. But staying silent in the face of oppression or injustice is a decision—a decision that maintains the status quo.
Speaking up isn't always loud or confrontational. Sometimes, it's a quiet boundary, a heartfelt conversation, or the refusal to participate in harmful systems. But every time we use our voice, we chip away at the silence that oppresses us all. And every time we choose courage over comfort, we pave the way for others to do the same.
Choosing Justice Over Privilege Comfort
If we're honest, privilege can feel like a warm blanket—something we cling to because it's familiar and safe. But choosing Justice means stepping into discomfort. It means examining how we benefit from systems that harm others and being willing to make changes, even when it's hard.
It's not about guilt; it's about responsibility. Privilege isn't inherently bad—it's what we do with it that matters.
Will we use it to perpetuate harm, or will we wield it as a tool for healing and equity?
The Courage to Choose
Every day, we face choices:
Do I choose numbness or healing?
Do I choose silence, indifference, apathy or truth, comfort, and Justice?
The path of healing, Justice, and authenticity is rarely easy. At times, I tell myself, "Dayanna, why can you just shut up?"
But every single time it's the path that leads us back to ourselves, to our inherent truth—to the women we're meant to BE.
So, I'll leave you with a question:
What will you choose today?
Will you lean into the discomfort that leads to growth?
Will you use your voice, your privilege, your power to create a ripple of change?
Because when you do, you're not just healing yourself—you're healing the world.
Let's be women who choose courage over comfort.
Women who choose to FEEL, to HEAL, to RISE.
The world is waiting for us.
Are you ready?
Every choice we make shapes the world. So, ask yourself:
What will I choose today?
